Guided Tour of Jewish and General Frankfurt

Jewish life in Frankfurt goes back to the 11th century and our city tour will include all places of historical interest as sites of Jewish life historically and today in one of Germany’s largest Jewish communities. Main sights of Frankfurt also include: the Römerstadt, Frankfurt Schirn Art Museum, the Historical Museum, the Old Opera House, the City Hall and Frankfurt’s skyscraper complex, the ‘Manhattan of Germany’ — with the tallest skyscraper in Europe, the Commerzbank by the star British architect Sir Norman Foster

Day 7 -
Monday

Transfer Frankfurt – Dresden

Arrival in Erfurt for Lunch break and guided city tour

Erfurt, the largest city in Thuringia, has a medieval heart that is one of the best preserved in Germany. Erfurt has in Jewish terms a very special situation with 3 synagogues: one which is used for service today, one medieval synagogue and one of the 1880ies, now used as a Cultural Center

Arrival in Dresden

Dinner at koscher restaurant "Schoschana", located in the JCC, part of the new synagogue architectural ensemble

Day 8-
Tuesday

Guided Tour of Dresden, one of Europe's most beautiful and culturally rich cities. The Semper Opera, the magnificent Church of Our Lady (Frauenkirche), the Zwinger are among the world's most impressive feats of architecture.
Like a phoenix Dresden rose out of the ashes and is to be enjoyed in its baroque beauty once again. Like the city itself, the Dresden Jewish community has experienced a post-wall renaissance attested to by the architecturally unique New Synagogue.

Day 9 -
Wednesday

Transfer to Berlin

Guided city tour by bus and walking of the more historical and the eastern parts of the city including general and Jewish Berlin with visiting places of remembrance of the Shoah. A brief visit of the New Synagogue is included in this tour. Guided visit of the new Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe

Day 10 -
Thursday

Guided bus tour of the western and more modern parts of Berlin including visits of some relevant memorials of the Shoah.
Lunch at the restaurant of the Jewish Museum.

Day 11 -
Friday

Day trip Potsdam and Wannsee
Guided visit of the exhibit in the House of the Wannsee Conference ("Wannsee Conference" was concerned with the organisation and implementation of "The Final Solution")
Guided visit of the Liebermann Villa (option for snacks)

Guided bus tour of the historical city of Potsdam

Shabbat service in Pestalozzi St. Synagogue, famous for its organ and mixed choir and for continuing the tradition of German-Jewish liturgy by Louis Lewandowski.

Day 12 -

Guided Visit on Museum’s Island like for example the Pergamon Museum, the Egyptian Museum, Old National Gallery
